Have just found the channel and subscribed. Good stuff. Agree 100% with your porridge suggestions. It's amazing what can be dehydrated at home then vacuum sealed and stored in deep freeze. Veges, stews, pasta sauces (minus meat) fruit etc. Anything other than meats (which don't dehydrate well other than jerky anyway) are usually pretty good and will comfortably keep for 6 months. Some garlic salt, chilli flakes, herbs etc. for zest and variety. I still have some old Macca's plastic straws to carry these in small quantities. You can heat seal one end and fold over the top with another straw end. Over the years I have experimented with lots of different foods, even pemmican which isn't bad as an addition to a vegetable stew. When making a meal, at home if anything "interesting" is left over, dehydrate, reconstitute a day or two later and try (at home). If it works, it gets added to the list. Some flour for the odd damper or stick twists for the grandkids is fun too.
