Mowser's tent guide has led me to reconsider my choice of tents. He uses tents in the demanding conditions of Tasmania—wind, rain, snow, and cold—and has developed some sound guidelines. I may purchase his preferred all-around tent, the Durston X-Mid 2 with poles (I own a Durston Kakwa pack and Iceline trekking poles: good gear).
Mowser's tent review has very much mirrored my tent usage and knowledge spanning more than fifty years. His current assessment covers all of my go to points such as fly pitch first, dual entrances, correct build weight for the season and tent material. Wind is also a factor in selecting a tent as choices will vary if used in UK, Europe Canada, United States and of course Tasmania or any mountain region. I can also recommend Mowser's "Pathfinder" book for beginners and a reference book for the future for all ages. My two current tents are Durston X-Mid 1 and X-Dome 1+. both Solids. Pathfinder book says it all - or most of it!
